Diagnosis before parts replacement
A trouble code is a starting point, not a parts list. Our mobile diagnostic process combines scan data with practical electrical, starting, charging, visual, and symptom-based checks when applicable. The goal is to narrow the problem to the most likely cause and give you a sensible next step.
What separates diagnosis from a code scan
A trouble code is a starting point, not a parts order. Depending on the symptom, diagnosis may compare live sensor data, battery and charging voltage, fuel-trim behavior, misfire information, circuit response, and other available test results. The goal is to identify what is actually failing before recommending a repair.
When a code scan is not enough
Intermittent faults, electrical problems, mechanical symptoms, and drivability concerns often require more than reading stored codes. Depending on the vehicle and complaint, useful diagnosis may require live-data comparison, voltage or circuit measurements, starting and charging tests, visual checks, and symptom reproduction before a repair decision makes sense.
Common problems we diagnose
What mobile diagnostics can include
How the mobile service works
Send the year, make, model, location, symptoms, warning lights, and recent repair history. After availability is confirmed, Hye Tech provides the required estimate, obtains customer authorization, and provides payment instructions for the diagnostic visit.
We test the vehicle where it is parked and verify the complaint when conditions allow.
You receive the findings, likely cause or next diagnostic step, and a repair recommendation when appropriate.
When mobile service may not be appropriate
Some faults require manufacturer-level programming, smoke testing, advanced lab-scope work, extensive disassembly, or shop equipment. If a mobile visit cannot responsibly confirm the cause, we will say so rather than guess.
Before the appointment
Do not clear codes or disconnect the battery immediately before the appointment unless safety requires it; doing so can erase useful fault history and readiness information.
Diagnostic fee and same-visit repair credit
The $149 diagnostic fee covers our mobile visit and up to the first hour of initial diagnostic testing. More complicated diagnostic cases and any diagnostic work that extends beyond the first hour require an additional charge. Hye Tech will explain the additional testing needed and obtain your approval before continuing billable diagnostic work. If you approve the recommended repair and we complete it during the same visit, the diagnostic fee may be credited toward eligible repair labor. Repairs scheduled for a different day are considered a separate service visit and are subject to regular labor and mobile service charges. The diagnostic fee does not carry over to a future visit and does not apply toward parts.
Appointment confirmation and cancellation
After Hye Tech confirms availability for your vehicle and location, we provide the required estimate, obtain your authorization, and provide payment instructions. The $149 diagnostic fee must be paid before the diagnostic appointment is confirmed and before a technician is dispatched.

Frequently asked questions
How much does mobile diagnostics cost?
The $149 diagnostic fee covers the mobile visit and up to the first hour of initial diagnostic testing. More complicated diagnostic cases and any diagnostic work beyond the first hour require an additional charge, which must be approved before billable diagnostic work continues.
How is a diagnostic appointment confirmed?
After Hye Tech confirms availability for the vehicle and location, the required estimate is provided, customer authorization is obtained, and the $149 diagnostic payment is received. The diagnostic appointment is then confirmed before a technician is dispatched.
Is reading a trouble code the same as diagnosing the problem?
No. A code identifies a system or fault condition, but additional testing is often needed before replacing a part.
Is the diagnostic fee applied to the repair?
The $149 diagnostic fee covers the mobile visit and up to the first hour of initial diagnostic testing. More complicated cases or diagnostic work beyond the first hour require an additional approved charge. If you approve the recommended repair and we complete it during the same visit, the $149 diagnostic fee may be credited toward eligible repair labor. Repairs scheduled for a different day are considered a separate service visit and are subject to regular labor and mobile service charges. The diagnostic fee does not carry over to a future visit and does not apply toward parts.
What if the vehicle cannot be repaired during the diagnostic visit?
The $149 diagnostic fee covers the mobile visit and up to the first hour of initial diagnostic testing. Once diagnostic service has begun, the fee is not refundable solely because a repair cannot be completed on site or during the same visit, or because the findings show that shop, dealer, specialist, programming, or other equipment-level service is needed.
Can you diagnose a vehicle that will not start?
Yes, many no-start and starting-system concerns can be tested at the vehicle when there is safe access and the needed systems are reachable.
