Describe exactly what happens when you try to start
Tell us whether the engine turns at normal speed, turns slowly, clicks once, clicks repeatedly, or stays silent. A normal crank with no start sends testing toward spark, fuel, sensor signals or security inputs; a no-crank problem starts with battery condition, cable voltage drop and starter control. Those symptoms can sound similar over the phone but do not call for the same first test.
For a stall, note whether it happens cold or hot, while idling, slowing down, turning or accelerating. Keep warning messages and stored codes intact before the visit when practical. A code identifies a circuit or condition to investigate; by itself it does not prove which part failed.
Choose tests that fit the vehicle and evidence
A useful mobile diagnosis can combine scan data with voltage, ground, connector or operating checks that are accessible at the site. A battery reading with the engine off cannot establish charging performance, and a code scan alone may not explain a mechanical, intermittent or no-code failure. The next test should narrow a specific possibility before parts are recommended.
Some programming, internal transmission, high-voltage hybrid and intermittent faults need equipment or conditions beyond an initial mobile visit. Hye Tech will explain what the available evidence does and does not establish before discussing further work.
Plan the North Hills work location
North Hills traffic and access differ along Nordhoff, Plummer, Roscoe and Sepulveda. A private driveway or authorized lot with room around the vehicle is usually more useful than a busy curb or restricted apartment space. A scan may be possible where a repair is not; the requested work determines how much clearance and permission are needed.
Send the cross street, whether the car can be moved, and a photo of its parking position. Do not ask for testing in an active traffic lane or unsafe shoulder. If the car is near the wash or on a slope, say so before the appointment so we can decide whether the surface is suitable.
Information that makes the first visit more productive
Include year, make, model, engine if known, mileage, recent repairs, warning messages and the order in which symptoms appeared. A short dashboard or starting video can help distinguish a click from a normal crank. The standard diagnostic/service visit begins at $149 for the mobile visit and up to the first hour of initial testing; additional work is discussed before authorization.
Questions about this appointment
Should I clear the warning light before the appointment?
Usually no. Stored and pending codes or freeze-frame data may help reproduce the fault. Clear codes only when needed for safety or another specific reason.
Can a scan tool tell me which part to buy?
It can point to a system or circuit, but measurements and inspection are often needed to identify the failed part. Replacing a part from a code alone can miss wiring, power, ground or mechanical causes.
