Confirm seller consent and access
Send the listing, VIN if available, year, make, model and exact meeting address. Ask the seller to allow inspection, provide keys and arrange property access. For a vehicle near Agoura Road or Kanan Road, clarify dealer check-in, parking and time limits before scheduling.
If a cold start matters, ask that the vehicle not be warmed before arrival. The seller may restrict a road test or area of the car; the report should state what was unavailable rather than imply it was checked.
Use the report as a snapshot
The visit may review accessible body, interior, engine-bay and underbody areas when safe, note warning lights and check available diagnostic data. It describes observations at that time; it does not guarantee reliability or rule out hidden, intermittent or cleared issues.
An on-site check is not a shop teardown, lift inspection, emissions test or full alignment measurement. If findings call for deeper evaluation, you can request records or arrange a specialty shop inspection before deciding whether to buy.
Choose a workable meeting spot
A level, permitted space with room to walk around the vehicle is preferable to a busy curb. Share the seller’s actual address and gate directions rather than only a local landmark. Someone with keys should remain available through the agreed inspection time.
Pre-purchase inspections start at $199 under the existing service offer; confirm vehicle, location and requested scope when booking. The report can inform follow-up questions, but it cannot replace the buyer’s review of title, ownership and service records.
Questions about this appointment
Can an inspection guarantee a used car is reliable?
No. It records accessible observations at one point in time and is not a warranty or guarantee.
What if the seller restricts access?
The restriction is documented; no finding is claimed for an area that could not be checked.
