Use the owner’s maintenance schedule for the exact engine rather than a general “tune-up” interval. If receipts list plug part numbers or prior intake work, send them; this can identify access needs and prevent repeating a recent service.
If a plug was changed recently but the roughness remains, send the repair invoice and any scan results. Repeating plug work without checking ignition, fuel and mechanical evidence can add cost while leaving the original running fault unresolved.
For engines with difficult access, the estimate should reflect the parts that must be removed and the correct procedure to reinstall them. A model year alone may not identify the engine, which is why trim or VIN details matter.
