Use the symptom pattern to guide inspection
Say whether the noise occurs on bumps, braking, turning or while the vehicle rocks at a stop. A clunk does not automatically mean a strut; links, bushings, ball joints, mounts and steering components can produce overlapping sounds. Uneven tire wear may also involve alignment, pressure or tire condition.
A sudden change after striking a pothole or curb, a wheel that appears tilted, rubbing, or loose steering deserves prompt attention. Do not try to reproduce a severe handling problem at speed. Tell us if the vehicle feels unstable so we can decide whether it should be towed.
Lifting safety in a foothill neighborhood
Many suspension checks require a secure lift on firm, level ground. A sloped driveway, soft soil or limited clearance can make lifting unsafe. Shadow Hills access can vary from broad private spaces to narrow uphill approaches, so share a photo of the vehicle’s position and the available working room.
If safe lifting is not possible, a mobile visual assessment may still clarify symptoms, but it cannot replace a hands-on inspection of every joint. We will explain the limit and recommend the appropriate next place for diagnosis when needed.
Plan repair and alignment together
Send vehicle year, make, model, mileage, recent impact or repair history, and photos of tire wear. Once the failed part is identified, the estimate should state whether an alignment is also required. Replacing a component does not automatically correct wheel geometry.
Initial mobile testing starts at $149, including the visit and up to one hour of diagnosis. Suspension parts and any alignment work are separate items in the estimate.
Questions about this appointment
Can you replace struts in a driveway?
It depends on the vehicle, parts and work surface. Safe lifting and spring handling are essential; some repairs require shop equipment or a different facility.
Will a suspension repair remove steering vibration?
Possibly, but vibration can come from tires, wheels, brakes or other systems. Diagnosis should identify the source rather than assume one repair will correct it.
