Connect the noise to a driving condition
Tell us whether the clunk occurs over bumps, on a turn, while braking, or as the vehicle’s weight shifts on a slope. Report uneven tire wear, bouncing, a sagging corner, or steering change. Struts, shocks, links, bushings, joints, steering parts, and tires can create similar complaints.
If a wheel appears unstable or steering changes suddenly, avoid driving. The inspection should verify the source rather than assume that a familiar sound means a strut is worn. Provide recent alignment or suspension work so the technician can account for what has already been replaced.
Rule out an unsafe lift location
Suspension work often requires wheel removal and secure lifting. Give the driveway slope, pavement condition, clearance, and gate access near Soledad Canyon Road, Sierra Highway, or your residential street. Firm, level ground is required; a foothill grade or roadway shoulder may make the job unsuitable.
Some observations can be made without a lift, but they cannot substitute for access needed to verify or replace an undercar part. Confirm property permission before dispatch. If the car cannot be placed on a level surface, Hye Tech will explain the limitation before the appointment.
Check fitment before estimating replacement parts
Send year, make, model, trim, mileage, affected corner if known, and any tire or alignment invoice. Vehicle equipment can change spring, strut, or electronic suspension fitment. A photo of uneven wear or vehicle stance can help describe the concern but does not establish the failed part.
The standard diagnostic/service visit starts at $149 for the mobile visit and up to the first hour of initial testing. Parts and repair labor are separate. If an alignment or specialty calibration is required afterward, confirm where that work will be completed before approving the repair.
Questions about this appointment
Can you replace a strut on a sloped Canyon Country driveway?
A strut job needs safe lifting and a stable, level surface. Share the grade and whether a level alternate space is available.
Does a suspension clunk mean the control arm is bad?
Not by itself. Several suspension, steering, brake, and wheel components can make similar noises; inspection determines the source.
