Shut down and allow a full cool-down
If the gauge rises, steam appears or a temperature light comes on, pull over safely and shut the engine off. Do not remove a radiator or pressurized reservoir cap while hot because coolant can spray and burn. Do not restart because the warning disappears after a short stop.
After full cool-down, note whether fluid is visible and where it collects; do not touch hot components or crawl below the car. Tell us whether the heater stopped warming, how much coolant was added and if recent work preceded the loss. If the car sits in an unsafe curb location, arrange a tow rather than driving to a driveway.
Trace the leak before recommending a radiator
Coolant may escape from the radiator, hose, pump, cap, reservoir or thermostat housing. A puddle can travel away from the leak, and some failures only show under pressure. Inspection should identify the source before committing to radiator replacement.
The job can require fan removal, correct coolant, careful bleeding and an operating-temperature check. Some layouts call for special fill equipment, and a major overheat may have affected the engine. Hye Tech checks the model and work space before confirming mobile scope or recommending a repair facility.
Share the San Marino work conditions
Provide the exact address, driveway slope, parking permission and any garage or property rules. A vehicle near Monterey Road or Huntington Drive needs a safe off-street space with room at the front; a busy curb is not a work site for coolant handling. Tell us if the engine cannot be moved or the area is shared.
The initial diagnostic/service visit begins at $149 and includes the mobile visit and up to one hour of initial testing. Coolant, radiator and additional labor are quoted after inspection. Send year, make, model, engine and warning history; no replacement is recommended solely from a low reservoir reading.
Questions about this appointment
Does low coolant always mean a radiator leak?
No. Hoses, a pump, reservoir, cap or another engine component may be involved.
Should I add coolant while the engine is hot?
No. Let the engine cool fully and never open a pressurized hot cooling system.
