Stop safely and let the engine cool
If the gauge rises, a temperature warning appears or steam escapes, pull over where safe and shut the engine off. Do not remove a radiator or pressurized reservoir cap while hot; coolant can spray and cause severe burns. Avoid restarting an engine that continues to overheat, even if the warning briefly clears.
After the vehicle is fully cool, note where fluid appears and whether the cabin heater changed. Do not crawl under the car or touch hot parts. Tell us how quickly coolant was lost, whether it has needed repeated top-offs and if recent work was done on the cooling system.
Check the cooling circuit beyond the radiator
A radiator can leak, but so can a hose, water pump, reservoir, cap, thermostat housing or another component. Residue and visible wetness help focus an inspection; a pressure test or temperature checks may be needed to confirm. Replacing a radiator without locating the leak can leave the original problem unresolved.
The job may require draining the correct coolant, removing fans or other parts, refilling and bleeding air, then checking operation. Vehicle layout and space affect mobile suitability. If the engine has been severely overheated or internal damage is suspected, towing to a repair facility may be safer than roadside repair.
Share North Hills access and vehicle details
Provide the exact street or cross street and whether the vehicle is in a driveway, shared lot or garage. The North Hills area spans a broad part of the Valley, so a neighborhood name alone does not establish a safe work location. Note slopes, gate codes, overhead limits and whether the car is already immobilized.
The initial diagnostic/service visit starts at $149, including the mobile visit and up to one hour of initial testing. Any radiator, coolant or additional labor estimate follows inspection. Send year, make, model, engine, warning history and a photo of a cool-down leak if available; never drive an overheating car to improve access.
Questions about this appointment
Does coolant under the front bumper mean the radiator is leaking?
Not necessarily. Hoses, the pump, reservoir and other parts can also leak.
Can I open the coolant cap once steam stops?
Wait until the engine is fully cool; the system may remain pressurized after visible steam ends.
