Leave the pressure cap closed until cool
A radiator or reservoir cap can release pressurized hot coolant and cause severe burns. Leave the cap closed while the engine is hot, pull over safely, and allow the engine to cool. Do not continue up a hill to see whether the gauge drops.
Overheating can result from a radiator, hose, fan, water pump, thermostat, cap, or another component. A puddle near the front does not prove the radiator is leaking. The cause should be identified before replacement is recommended.
A steep street may not be a repair site
Cooling checks need stable parking and room to work around the vehicle. A sloped driveway, narrow curb, or underground garage may prevent a safe inspection or replacement. Send the address, grade, garage clearance, and whether the engine is now cool.
If the vehicle is in a hazardous position, move away from traffic and arrange roadside assistance. Do not idle an overheating engine to reposition it or open the system to photograph a leak.
Share what preceded the warning
Send the year, make, model, dashboard message, recent cooling service, and whether overheating occurred in traffic, at idle, or on an incline. A photo of fluid from a safe distance can help describe the issue if the engine is cool.
The standard diagnostic/service visit starts at $149 and includes up to the first hour of initial testing. Parts and radiator replacement depend on confirmed findings and safe access. Hye Tech reviews the next step before additional work is authorized.
Questions about this appointment
Can I drive slowly home if the temperature gauge is red?
No. Continued driving while overheating can cause major engine damage. Stop safely, turn the engine off, and arrange assistance.
Does a coolant puddle confirm a radiator leak?
No. Hoses, the reservoir, cap, pump, or another component may be responsible. The source needs to be checked.
