Do not drive an overheating vehicle
Pull over somewhere safe and switch off the engine if the gauge climbs, a warning appears or steam is visible. Never open a hot radiator or pressurized reservoir cap. Do not restart the engine just because the warning falls after stopping; repeated overheating can turn a repairable leak into engine damage.
After the engine is fully cool, note the location and color of any fluid without touching hot parts or crawling beneath the vehicle. Tell us whether the cabin heat changed, how often coolant has been added and whether a recent repair preceded the problem. If the car is in an unsafe location, arrange a tow rather than trying to reach a driveway.
Confirm the cooling-system fault
Coolant can escape from the radiator, hoses, pump, cap, reservoir or engine. A wet spot does not identify which item failed, and some leaks appear only when hot or pressurized. Inspection may include visible evidence and suitable testing before a replacement is recommended.
Radiator installation may require fan or hose removal, controlled coolant handling, a proper refill and air bleeding. Some vehicles need special filling equipment or have additional damage after severe overheating. We verify the vehicle and work conditions first, then tell you whether mobile replacement is appropriate or a shop assessment is safer.
Plan access around Lake Balboa
Share the exact cross street, driveway or lot, and whether the vehicle can be parked level with safe space at the front. If it is near Balboa Boulevard or Victory Boulevard, identify an off-street spot rather than asking a technician to work beside moving traffic. Provide gate codes and property permission for shared garages.
The initial diagnostic/service visit is $149 and includes the mobile visit and up to one hour of initial testing. Coolant, radiator and further labor are estimated separately after inspection. Send year, make, model, engine, temperature history and any recent cooling work; do not move the car if doing so risks another overheat.
Questions about this appointment
Can a radiator leak be repaired by topping up coolant?
A top-off does not fix a leak and may only delay the warning; the source needs assessment.
Should I drive if the gauge returns to normal?
No. A temporary drop does not show the cause is resolved; avoid further driving if overheating recurs.
