Stop driving before checking the leak
If steam appears or the temperature rises, pull over safely and switch off. Do not open a hot radiator or reservoir cap; pressure can release scalding coolant. A gauge that later drops does not mean the engine is safe to keep running.
Once fully cool, note where fluid appears without touching hot components. Tell us about the heater, warning message and any recent coolant top-offs. Avoid restarting the vehicle solely to move it into a more convenient space.
Distinguish radiator failure from other leaks
Hoses, a water pump, thermostat housing, reservoir, cap or internal engine issue can produce similar coolant loss. Visible residue can help direct an inspection; pressure testing or checks after cool-down may be required to confirm the failed part.
A radiator replacement may require draining, refilling, bleeding air and verifying temperature operation. Safe mobile suitability depends on engine severity, vehicle access and room to handle coolant; a serious overheat or internal leak may warrant towing.
A clear photo of a puddle after the vehicle has been parked may help distinguish a recurring leak from water that can drain from air conditioning. Do not crawl under the vehicle or touch fluid to identify it.
Give the Agoura Hills parking details
Tell us if the car is in a driveway, shared lot or near Agoura Road or Kanan Road, and provide the actual address and access rules. Coolant work needs level authorized ground and room at the front of the vehicle. Do not drive an overheating car to improve access.
Send year, make, model, engine and warning history. The $149 diagnostic/service visit covers dispatch and up to the first hour of initial testing; parts and repair scope are confirmed after assessment and require approval.
Questions about this appointment
Can coolant loss be caused by a hose instead?
Yes. Hoses and other cooling parts can leak; diagnosis should locate the source before replacing a radiator.
Is it safe to drive after adding coolant?
Not necessarily. If the engine is overheating or losing coolant, stop safely and get guidance before running it.
